JEANNE DE LATHOUDER

I was born in Chicago, raised in the Midwest, and studied creative writing and journalism at the University of Iowa. I was quickly immersed in Southern culture when I moved to Birmingham, Alabama, and became a writer and editor for Southern Accents Magazine at Time Warner. The lavish interiors and grand architecture of the region inspired me to study interior design while working as
an editor.

In 1998, I returned to Iowa to assume the role of interior design editor for Better Homes & Gardens Television and later worked as a design consultant in two furniture showrooms as well as a senior writer for ITAGroup, a full-service performance improvement company based in Des Moines.

In 2009, I returned to Birmingham, where I worked as the associate editor for Victoria Magazine at Hoffman Media for four years. In October 2013, I joined Time Inc. Books as assistant managing editor, where I was provided the opportunity to utilize my editorial skills and contribute to the company's many iconic brands, including Southern Living and Cooking Light, as well as several celebrity-authored books.

In 2016, I started my own freelance writing business with clients including Luxe Interiors + Design, Florida Design, Hoffman Media Books, Southern Home, The Cottage Journal, Charleston Style & Design, Dallas Style & Design, St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles, and Kansas City Homes & Style. Currently, I am also a Senior Digital Content Editor for LakeHomesLifestyles and BeachHomesLifestyles.

I especially love tranquil oceanside and lakefront interiors and walking on the beach with my Jack Russell terrier, Chet. I also have a passion for cooking, music of all kinds, rockumentaries, blues guitar, and German sports cars.
